Downtown
| Practically speaking we mean District 5 when we mention Downtown or City Centre of Budapest but in reality Districts 5, 6 and 7 create a beautiful, harmonious unit in the heart of the city. |
The central districts (V., VI, VII.) in Pest offer a wide array of sights, landmarks, museums, parks, shops, as well as places to eat and entertain and premium category hotels with a breathtaking view on the river and the Buda side of the city. This is also the centre of most of our governmental bodies. Most of the downtown areas are ideal for exploration on foot but public transportation links are excellent to get you anywhere from here.

Some of the emblematic buildings of the city can be found in the 5th District, for instance the beautiful Houses of Parliament, St. Stephan’s Basilica, the Hungarian National Museum, not to mention the unforgettable sight of the Chain Bridge, one of the landmarks of Budapest, from the elegant Danube Promenade. |
Generally speaking these central districts are not made for raising little children, but this should not keep those away who cannot live without the bustle of a big city as there is a significant expat community in the downtown as well, not to mention that all the international schools provide school bus services that stops at all larger transportation hubs in the city and take the kids to the 2nd 3rd or 12th districts depending on the preferred institution.
| If you like to feel the pulsing of the busy downtown atmosphere, enjoy being close to the top shopping facilities, restaurants, bars, cafés in the city, this place is definitely for you. Yet the 5th district does not feature houses or apartments with huge, leafy outdoor patio, there are quite a lot of smaller and medium sized parks around to take a stroll to and enjoy the pleasant climate all year long. Parking can be a problem as few buildings provide their own garage, however you can get a carpark place in one of the rentable parking lots if you prefer off-street parking. |  |
Property prices in the 5th district reflect the value and prestige of living in the very heart of not only Budapest, but the whole country. Rentals vary largely depending on size and services from 700 EUR for a 1-br apartment up to 5,000 EUR per month for a 3-4 br penthouse. The average square meter price in the area is around 6,300 Euros which can easily go up to 8,900 or even more depending on the property. If one can afford a property here you will definitely get value for the price and a flat that will always be an asset.

These are the neighborhoods that offer a combination urban-suburban feel with a mixed bag of lovely, hidden streets and upscale accommodations for residents who opt for a lively lifestyle when coming to Budapest.
