Arriving to the 6th District you will be stunned by the more than a mile long, amazing Andrássy Avenue, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the most elegant fashion streets of Budapest, lined with mansions on both sides and even in the neighboring cross streets.
At the turn of the century it was home to the most prominent families of the capital where high-society has built their own villas attached to each other along the avenue up to the City Park along with the so called Diplomatic Quarter - home to many embassies. The area of Liszt Ferenc square with the Music Academy, the State Opera House and the Broadway of Budapest (Nagymező street) is also just round the corner with an active cultural and entertainment life every day and night.
Terézváros is warmly suggested to both investors and expatriates as it is in the top 100 livable districts worldwide according to recent Mercer studies.
Considering public transportation the 6th is a well-found district with multiple electric bus lines, and the unique Metro line 1 that still keeps alive the memory of another era. This one-of-a-kind underground crosses the whole area with an end on the South at the busy Vörösmarty square and another up North in the City Park where it also stops by the City Zoo and the historic Széchenyi Spa. Parking is a little less difficult than in the Downtown - with parking houses in the inner part and on street parking on the outer.
Living in the 6th District can be a very different experience compared to the newly-built 9th or 13th. Here Andrássy Avenue and the nearby side streets are occupied by upscale mansions of all types and sizes, some of them homes of embassies, international organizations or museums, but also very many residential condominiums.
If you live here you will definitely feel privileged by being an inhabitant of one of the most elegant districts in the city. Many of the flats here are likely upper class, but you can find very neat, traditional, downtown Budapest Condominiums too, which tell you stories about their tormented history during the previous decades or centuries. The area is also ultimately secure, due to the Embassies and Consulates that are under constant surveillance.
Prices have been consistent in the last years in the area and not so different compared to the neighboring 5th district. Apartments for sale can be found between 4,300 up to 7000 EUR per sqm while long-term rentals range between 700 EUR to 5000 EUR.
Also Consider: District 5 or 7
Location-wise these three are as close as it gets. They are alike on so many levels yet each of them with some unique characteristics and this way make a perfect fusion of diversity. Should you prefer any of them because of the address of your workplace, feel free to opt for any other as there is no more distance than 15 minutes from one place to another.

Dear Clients and Associates,
At Home Budapest decided to make the responsible choice and restrict it's operation during the outbreak of COVID-19.
We are convinced that it is a choice that benefits everyone's health and will help us get through these difficult times sooner.
In the meantime, many of our services are still available. For those who are interested, give us a call on +36 20 262 7864.
Regarding the property visits in this period, our company offers three different options:
During the visit, the owner and the realtor stay outside while the inquiring party views the property (wearing a mask, rubber gloves, and of course, not touching anything). After the tour, the realtor and the owner answer any emerging questions, all while strictly keeping a 2 meter distance.
We set up an appointment for the property visit, in which the realtor is not physically present - instead, they join the rendezvous via facetime or videochat. The visit itself goes by the same routine as in option 1: the inquiring parties enter alone, all while keeping themselves to the necessary precautions.
The inquiring party is not physically present, instead, our realtor gives a virtual tour via facetime or videochat.
We will do our best to stay healthy and stay safe so we can bounce back to normal as soon as possible - so should you! Wash your hands regularly, disinfect everything, and most importantly, #stayhome!
