If you want to live in one of the greenest and most upper-class districts of Budapest, come to live in the 2nd! It covers a huge and diverse area straining from the busy Danube bank part to the most remote hilltops. No wonder why lots of people adore living in this district and traditionally it is a prestige to be a resident here. |

Víziváros aka Water Town, near the Danube, guards the secrets of old eras with one of the oldest baths of Budapest, still from Turkish times and lovely streets to wander in. From here you can get around on the Buda side of the Grand Boulevard taking one of the busiest tram lines which leads to both the downtown direction and to the hub of Széll Kálmán square. This one is a newly rebuilt public transportation hub, on the go with connecting shopping and entertainment facilities nearby. |
If you leave these parts however, and swirl up the Buda Hills you will immediately find peace and tranquillity together with beautiful scenery and the closeness of nature. In these areas you definitely can make good use of a car not only because of the further distances, but the easier parking options and provided garages also encourage one to drive.
| District 2 is also located in Buda and has two distinct parts. The more densely populated flat area close to the river and the greener more hilly outer area popular with families. One of the most prestigious parts of the 2nd is the Rózsadomb and the neighbouring area, known as Pasarét where there are plenty of international nurseries, kindergartens, schools and other facilities for expatriates such as exclusive medical centers, dentists, fitness, sport and golf facilities. |  |
The streets by the river are frequented not only with offices and institutions, but with those residents as well who opt for a place, more close to the downtown and easily accessible by public transportation. The areas up the hill are nearly all residential but there are many diplomatic corps and embassies as well who chose this district for their residence. Obviously this area is full of premium properties where you can find every luxury you need for a high class lifestyle. The limit is only the sky as of property prices here with the average of the whole district being merely 6,300 EUR but in the best areas they can even get close to 12,000 EUR per square metre making it the most expensive neighbourhood to live in in the whole country.

Overall, the 2nd district has been considered the most popular among many expats and locals as well for some years, however lately all the neighboring areas have been explored by both tenants and homeowners who seek for a more peaceful, laid-back Buda lifestyle.
